Every Friday I turn my daily newsletter into a catalog of friend news. Here’s what’s going on in our small world.
-This weekend is San Diego Zine Fest. Gina Mejia does something magic with this yearly gathering of writers and artists. I’ll be there both days behind the tables of the literary farmstand and Bread & Roses Press.
-You should consider ordering the book How To Play A Necromancer's Theremin by Chase Griffin and Christina Quay. It’s out now via Maudlin House. Get that weird shit.
-Matty Terrones has a noise record out. It’s really beautiful. Go give 101023 a listen. Feels like a world coming into being then a documentation of the sprawling, lovely, chaotic, life of that world.
-My audio book label, Hello America Stereo Cassette, is accepting submissions (stories and poems) for a new compilation. Deadline for the Fall Collection, 2023 is Oct 25th. Details here.
-The Eternia Press comic Niceferatu has had its text restored to the original German (with English subtitles). Get one for a mere $3 here.
-K Van Petten is playing Sou’wester on 10/21. Listen to K’s beautiful collection of talking songs here.
-My new book, I Wish to Say Lovely Things, is currently being designed by the Black Moon Design. Early pages are looking great. More news about that soon. It’ll be out via Three One G and Bread & Roses Press February 14th, 2024, but I’m hoping to have preorders ship out for the holidays.
-My friend Allysia Edwards (who was once 1/2 of Three One G during a very good period for the label, e.g. Moving Units, Some Girls, Holy Molar, etc) makes rad jewelry. I own a few pieces. Check out Allysia Brooke Designs.
-I met Joshua Jones in England this year while doing tour dates with Andrew Mears. I really like his writing. His new book, Local Fires, is out in November by Parthian. Get one.
