Hey, it’s Friday and Fridays = this newsletter devoting itself to friend news. Here’s some of the stuff people in my small world are up to.
-In Lawrence, Kansas, at the ECM, the Trans Lawrence Coalition, Solidarity Library, and Emily Taylor Center is hosting a monthly reading group discussing transgender topics. Next one, “Two Spirit Identities & Intersections,” is 11/16. Also, reminder that every Thursday the ECM serves a free vegan lunch. Head on down there.
-Today a lot of my friends are participating in the global strike in support of Palestine. Here’s more info about that.
-When I was in San Diego Nick Bernal gave me a tour of the new Burn All Books, Particle FM, Scanners, etc, space. Next time you’re in San Diego go check them out. It’s pretty special. B.A.B. & Friends Gift Stop is at 3131 Adams and is open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
-Stress Positions’ new video, “How to Get Ahead,” is streaming over at Brooklyn Vegan.
-My audio book label has coffee mugs now. The ‘70s West Coast mellow burnout design is by Elizabeth Thompson.
-The good people behind San Diego’s Make Believe DIY have put together this google doc of Palestinian Aid Recourses. Please share it around.
-Planet B (members of The Locust, Sonido de la Frontera) is headlining the Escorted Trips fest on Saturday. From the event write up, “Escorted Trips 2023 is a full-day music and arts festival featuring 12 amazing live acts from Southern California and beyond, a variety of local food and art vendors, and more! Festival headlining acts include Planet B, We The Commas, Buddha Trixie, and Estereomance. Hosted by local event production group Reality House West, this year's festival has found a new home at San Diego Harley-Davidson on Morena Blvd. We are extremely excited to host this year's artists and vendors, and can't wait to have you join us there! Tarrah Aroonsakool is constructing a unique art installation for this event, and the event's non-profit beneficiary is the National Alliance on Mental Illness.”

-Valeska Hykel is going to be part of the Woolwich Contemporary Art Print Fair in London, Oct 26th-29th.
-Nicole Morning is doing a zine making workshop on Friday, Nov 3rd for the NMHU Literary Club at Douglas Hall in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The workshop is free and open to students and civilians alike. Also, put this on your calendar, Las Vegas New Mexico Zinefest is happening April 13th and 14th next year.
