Two weeks ago I finished writing my new book. It’s called I WISH TO SAY LOVELY THINGS and it will be out February 14th, 2024 via Three One G and Bread & Roses Press. Here’s the manuscript photographed upon completion. It’s a novel about love in all forms. “Fiction.”
Meantime please pick up some of my books here at my online shop or via Three One G or AK Press. I will send you some sweet extras. Everything is on sale. Please buy many. Lots of shirts, posters, stickers, tapes, pins, etc, etc. Do your holiday shopping early. You will win my heart.
My only other news (I mean personal news) is this guy, George—the newest resident here at the Ruby Teeth farm. Two months old and wild as the day is long. Meet George. One of his eyes is half blue half brown. He’s a great dog. We love each other.
And now news from my friends
Friend news
News of the friends
-The pals Deaf Club are about to head out on tour with Converge. You should go catch a show. The brutal wild.
-New Dmitry Samarov book out. I’ve read it and vouch for its heaviness and relatability. You want the dark? This one is pretty dark. If you’re in Chicago go see Dmitry read with Mallory Smart and Annie Howard. Tangible Books. Saturday. TOMORROW.
-The Album Leaf is touring with Godspeed! You Black Emperor. Fuckin’ cool.
-My last-year-tour-mates Porridge Radio announced some this-year-tour-dates. European shows. Full band and Dana solo. Some Pitchfork fests. Look that up. Lovely people. One of my favorite bands around.
-If you’re rad and you’re in Lawrence, Kansas, Wonder Fair is hiring. WF is one of best things about this state.
-The Numero Group just released a boxset of Karate’s discography. Somehow I’ve never listened to Karate. I am now. I really like it.
-Lit Hub did a cover reveal for the new Juliet Escoria book, You Are the Snake. Check that out here. Pretty and kinda gross. Book’s out next year via Soft Skull. Lookin’ forward.
-Hey San Diego. The wonderful Neutral Shirt is playing TONIGHT with Limping and Mexico’s Surcarilita (who are pretty fuckin’ dope if you’re into weird, noisy, folky indie-pop; listen here) at Pink House. DM the Neutral Shirt bandcamp for the address.
-Ebony Tusks is playing Sept 22nd at Howdy in Kansas City. This is a great band. Give them a chance. I love their record Heal_Thyself. Hip-hop that feels like planets smashing.
-My good pal Valeska Hykel had her work featured in Vogue. Vogue! Amazing. Well-deserved.
-In the new Cult & Culture podcast Justin Pearson and Luke Henshaw talk to the drummer of Crossed Out. Tad Miller. Power violence legend. Get that here.
-Speaking of Justin, the documentary Don’t Fall in Love with Yourself (in which you can see my giant face talking on the big screen) is getting its Mexico debut on September 22nd in Mexicali at the CEPA. Justin and Jung Sing (Silent, All Leather) will be there doing a Q&A afterward.
-I love and believe in the writing of my friend Lora Mathis. It is important stuff and feels necessary to my soul in a very substantial way. Getting to see Lora and Matty Terrones perform every night on this last tour was one of the best parts about 2023. This newsletter hits hard and should be widely read. Also, Lora and Matty are heading out on tour in support of Lora’s new book, The Snakes Came Back. Go to a show and bring a few friends. Buy a book.
