It's harder to care, but it's better. Life is very short and some of us will lose ours way too soon. Stop building a wall to stand behind. Courage and open-hearted humor in the middle of pain is admirable. Ironic detachment and head-in-the-sand disinterest is boring, easy, and gross. Most people are worth your concern. Most governments and political organizations are not. Care about people. Screaming at others isn't helping, but neither is pretending you don't care. The best thing you can be is gentle, receptive, and loving.
