This morning I had to fight a snake that was going after the newborn chickens. Big bastard. Eight or nine feet long and as thick as a Coke can. (It got away and I hate that it’s still out there. Looks like it’s living in the rafters of the barn. Need to investigate tonight after farm-chores.) Spent the afternoon working on the book out back. Sat under an arch of Chinese elms. (Wind was so strong it blew away the big red umbrella I use for shade. Hell of a windstorm. Probably lose some trees in this one.) Taking a break now to work on the September and October tours. Gonna be a busy summer and fall. Already thinking of doing absolutely nothing in November once the book’s back from the printer. I’ve been taking most of December off these past couple years. Might do November too. Don’t know if climate change will let us have it but I’m ready for snow.
